session with Richard Patrick! I would especially like to thank Richard Patrick
for taking the time to come and chat with us Filter fans online like this.
RPatrick: no problem.
Notorious: lets start this off... Q: Why was the release of the new album pushed back once
again?
RPatrick: glad to be here witch y'all.
RPatrick: it was always going to be august 10the.... just wanted bust your balls! hehe.
Notorious: Q: Will you ever put samples of the new album on the net? Like before it's release
date?
RPatrick: of course. as it gets closer to the release date. i'll put some little sipt there
for my peeps. you guys rock. you deserve it.
Notorious: Q: What really stands out on the new album in comparison to the first? Did you
diliberatly do anything different to make Brian's absence obvious?
RPatrick: diversity in sound. Sooooo many more hills and valleys. one second soft - the next
hard. not as juvenile as the first record.
Notorious: Q: Do you plan on doing any pre-album shows? When do you plan on starting the full
tour?
RPatrick: yeah, i'lll post the dates on the web later this spring.
Notorious: Q: When will the official webpage be fully operational?
RPatrick: looking to unleash the website a month before the records release. but will update
on occasion until then.
Notorious: Q: With the explosive and energentic live performances Filter are known for, have
you ever thought about releasing a live album some day?
RPatrick: ABSOLUTELY! That should be the third album! That will accompany another long-form
video!
Notorious: Q: Any clue as to what the first single for this new album will be?
RPatrick: Not sure. gonna wait until they are all done and mixed. probably something hard.
i would like it to be punk rock as fuck though.
Notorious: Q: Anymore answering machine stuff on this album?
RPatrick: nah. no one really called up and said anything profound. most of my friendttre
leaving messages like that are dead. i went to alot of coffinai this year. pretty
sad, huh?
RPatrick: parties - coffin parties.
Notorious: Q: Rich, what kind of relationship if any do you have with Trent Reznor these days?
RPatrick: haven't te him in awhile. but we made up at his show in New York.
RPatrick: we are good friends though. had a good make out session in vegas. shocked alot old
old bags that play slots. hehe
Notorious: Q: Rich, What inspired you or who influenced you to become a musician?
RPatrick: pretty much bands. my 10th birthdd got a guitar. i always knew that music was what
i was going to be best at.
Notorious: Q: I know record labels give artists a hard time about artist freedom these days,
have you had any problems with yours?
RPatrick: Not really. Warner Bros. is pretty famous for letting artists do what they want
want to do. I love reprise. those people are great.
Notorious: Q: What is your favorite computer game?
RPatrick: Rogue squadron on N64. #2 is battletank. I've mastered both...
Notorious: Q: What bands would you like to tour with?
RPatrick: neil diamond. zombie oudl be fun, korn, manson, nin, all of em would be fun.
Notorious: Q: Can you give us some of the song names and maybe the story behind one or two of
them?
RPatrick: hey, steve and geno just walked in.
RPatrick: could you please take my picture cause i will not remember. about people being too
inhibited about themselves and thesuality. especially on aircraft flying across
country.
RPatrick: and the fact that i am not.
Notorious: okay this is for geno: Geno, how many bands have you been in before you joined
Filter?
RPatrick: one. chemlab. the only other of any notoriaty..
Notorious: Q: Who is the girl that did the samples in "Trip Like I do"?
RPatrick: a friend of Ken Jordans. She was tripping the light fantastic on exctasy. she
called sco
RPatrick: burp. this thing is slow.
Notorious: Q: how much infulence has steve and geno given on the sound of the new album
RPatrick: wel, geno is playing guitar on every song -long with me. co-written 2 songs as well.
Steve plays on half of the record - most f rocking stuff. so ALOT
RPatrick: they have both put in a great deal of work. i'm prod of them.
