Filter Online. Chat With RPatrick By Beldon L Wolson: As the Time slowly wound down the chat crowd was trying to Occupies their time with other things, like music, bands, and the booming with Iraq. I had my ICQ open and was talking with Hubka, the man that brought you FILTER ONLINE, and now something that for a select few chatters would be a day to remember. "Richard where are you??" "I have been informed that RP will be here in t-4 Minuets." "Awesome =-)" And Now we wait for Richard to Enter the chat for his bombardment of questions... And so it began with Adam Hubka saying " Hi, I'm Adam Hubka and I'd like to welcome everyone to this very special Friday chat session here on FILTER Online! I would especially like to thank Richard Patrick for talking time to come and chat with us Filter fans online like this." Then something terrible happened, everyone in the room probably freeked out, the blue name disappeared. Hubka announced that Richard was having troubles, but would be back shortly. RP came back but with a friend, Frank! Tonight was really looking up for all of us Filter fans. The questions began and as would would think, RP, and FC were playing it cool. Filter got a question about the release date of their new album and instead of saying when it's done, and leaving it at that, they answered with a possible release date of sometime in April. Filter was then asked about the name for the new album, and If it would change from the current name "Abyssin Son." Answer, "Not sure. What do you think about that name? Frank said that he wanted to wait till the album is done.. When asked about the building of their new studio they said, "It slowed the album down, but made a wonderful recording environment for us "fragile" artists. When asked about Brian, RP stated "Brian was a co-producer on the first record, which means very little." So far the interview was fast passed and excite with the barrage of questions I wondered how long they could keep answering.. After writing my last statement the excitement continued as they were asked how many songs were on the next release and what was the first single to be called. 13 was the lucky number of tracks and "Welcome to the fold" was their special new single. Richard was asked about sound tracks, and after a pause answered, "I'm pretty much done with the soundtrack thing for now." Another question related to Brian came up asking, " With one less guitar player, how will that effect you live performance? Patrick quickly answered with " Well, Brian wasn't really plugged in. So, not much. I wondered how much the band really detests these questions about their defector, Brian. Richard then answered a question about what short bus songs will be on their next tour, he said he loved them all and wanted all of them. Filter got a question about other bands he might like to tour with in the future, here is a list from their answer. He said " Their are so many good bands out there, Maybe filter and NIN could hook up seeing as how we're friends now." Now that's a show I know people would like to see! Now on to Richard and what some call an on stage screaming fit. His answer to a question about this, " well, the human voice is a very frail thing. But somehow it's always there for me. I just cross my fingers." Richard answered a question to what his favorite track was, his answer: Can't you trip like I do.... Filter's other friends in the rock world include : Korn, Limp Biskit, Rob Zombie, 100,000 leagues under my nutsack, Janes addiction, Jesus Lizard, Chris Issac. About the ultra-loud decibel rates of 120-130 a great quote came from Frank and Rich, " Fuck NO. if its too loud, you're too old. Wow! after a question about budding young musicians Richard said, " Throw your guitar down the stairs, don't second guess yourself, and believe in yourself because no one else will." Now thoes are some words to live by! Their average time it takes them to write a song is 5 minuets, to as long as a week. About their new videos and MTV air time they said " I hope so and yes." Another quote from Richard (or maybe frank took the keyboard) "Frank is the dope-jam-mother-fucker, and he gets the sound of Filter. Then Hubka got the comment of his like "We've adopted him as a little web site brother." Well congrats Hubka! Well kids if you want to be just like filter here are some guitars to buy. Custom shop Fender Telecasters and Stratocasters ONLY! About Mp3's the answered with a quite serious answer. " Scares the shit out of me. I hope I get paid. That's my blood and sweat out there. Then about the tapping and trading of live concert video, RP answered with a pause and a quick short to the point answer, "I don't really care." Hum about his brother Robert Patrick, Richard might have a future acting career from his brother production studio. Richard plays Rouge Squardrom on his off time and collects star wars stuff. And the the chat opened to the entire group, in second the chat was flooded with 40+ questions... Ah as we suspected Richard and Frank and the rest of filter still use Macintosh as their computer of choice. An incoming message from Hubka "Richard wanted the room to be opened in the end of the chat like this..." Frank was asked about 100,000 leagues under, his answer "It's a conglomeration of sick minded individuals building better mouse traps, keep your eyes pealed. Richard said he wants Mp3 sites to respect the work of the artists. Richard was asked if he would come to one of his fans proms, he asked, "Do I have to wear a tux?" heh. Another question about 100,000 Leagues got a answer that they are a independent, and not signed under anyone. As the night came to a closing there was one thing still looming in the back of my mind. How could people this talented find each other, and come together to become one of the greatest rock bands of our time. Maybe we will never know, but, well, Who cares. Filter is here to stay.
