Filter Collaborate With Crystal Method For Spawn Soundtrack To Feature Electronica Acts With Hard- Edged Rockers The forthcoming soundtrack to the Todd McFarlane film Spawn, based on the famed comic book series, will feature various interesting collaborations between electronica acts and harder- edged rock and industrial bands, including one between industrial rockers Filter and the electronic act The Crystal Method. The soundtrack is tentatively due Aug. 5 on Immportal/ Epic and is being compiled by Immortal's Happy Waters, who also compiled the similar- in- concept Judgement Night soundtrack. Filter and The Crystal Method make a duet out of the latter band's "Trip Like I Do," the original version of which will be on the group's (Crystal Method) forthcoming album Vegas, due Aug. 12 on Outpost/ Geffen, according to The Crystal Method's manager Richard Bishop. However, the Spawn track listing has not been finalized yet. Filter's Richard Patrick says he wants "Trip Like I Do" to be "the most powerful thing" he's done. Pairings being tossed around for the soundtrack include Korn with the Dust Brothers, Slayer with Atari Teenage Riot, and Soul Coughing with 808 State. The Orb, Tool, Tricky, and White Zombie are also being considered for Spawn. However, nothing has been confirmed yet. Spawn will hit theaters in August via New Line Cinema. The movie stars Martin Sheen, John Leguizamo, and Michael Jae White. McFarlane is also owner of McFarlane Toys, which is releasing the new Kiss dolls that we told you about on May 19.
